Position Overview
The Central Iowa Water Works (CIWW) is a newly established regional authority dedicated to the sustainable management of drinking water resources. As the Chief Executive Officer, you will play a pivotal role in steering the organization towards its mission of providing efficient and effective water services to the greater Des Moines area.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Direct all strategic planning initiatives related to current and future water production facilities, collaborating with professional staff from member organizations.
- Financial Oversight: Manage the organization’s financial health by developing and overseeing an annual operating budget, as well as creating a long-term capital investment strategy.
- Infrastructure Development: Plan and coordinate essential capital improvements, including treatment facilities and water source development.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local regulations governing drinking water production.
- Communication: Serve as the primary liaison to the Board of Trustees and member agencies, ensuring clear and timely communication of important information.
- Staff Management: Lead and supervise CIWW staff, consultants, and operational contracts to ensure effective organizational performance.
- Public Engagement: Oversee public information initiatives and represent the organization in media interactions.
- Sustainability Initiatives: Develop strategies to promote environmental sustainability and water resource conservation.
- Legislative Affairs: Coordinate legislative activities and pursue funding opportunities from various governmental sources.
