Job Summary: As a Medical Assistant at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a vital role in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a Physician and/or Designee. Your primary responsibilities will include interviewing patients, measuring vital signs, and recording pertinent information in patients' medical records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interview patients and measure vital signs, including temperature, pulse, and blood pressure.
  • Record information in patients' medical records, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare treatment rooms and patients for examination, maintaining a clean and organized environment.
  • Assist clinicians with patient care, including administering medications and performing routine laboratory tests.
  • Inventory, order, and replenish medical supplies and materials, ensuring a well-stocked and efficient work environment.
  • Schedule appointments, perform clinical tasks, and complete appropriate forms as required by the department.
  • May be responsible for administering medications, including injections, and cleaning, processing, sterilizing, and checking instruments.
  • Perform computer data entry functions, maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records.
  • Perform clinical/technical skills specific to the department, staying up-to-date with the latest procedures and protocols.

Customer Service: As a Medical Assistant, you will be expected to provide exceptional customer service, anticipating patients' needs and taking proactive steps to meet those needs. This includes listening actively, taking responsibility within scope, and ensuring issues are resolved promptly.

Team Commitment: You will be an effective team member, flexible, cooperative, and willing to assist others. You will manage difficult or conflict situations constructively, seeking appropriate assistance when needed. You will take accountability for your actions, acting as a resource and mentor to new employees, students, and other team members.

Basic Qualifications: To be eligible for this role, you must have a minimum of six (6) months of experience or successful completion of a Kaiser Permanente externship. You must also have a High School Diploma/GED and completion of a course of study consistent with the requirements for Medical Assistants as specified by the Medical Board of California.

Additional Requirements: You must be able to read, write, and comprehend medical information, and effectively present information, both verbally and written. You must be willing to work in a Labor Management Partnership environment and have a demonstrated ability to use personal computers. A Medical Terminology Certificate or equivalent experience is also preferred.
