Position Overview:
We are looking for a skilled Project Manager or Superintendent with expertise in underground utility construction to join our team at SST Direct. This role offers a direct hire opportunity with a reputable employee-owned heavy construction and site development contractor.
Compensation: $75,000 - $105,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
Benefits: Employee Stock Ownership Plan, Paid Time Off (PTO), Medical, Dental, and 401k.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate project specifications and develop precise estimates and proposals.
- Manage relationships with subcontractors effectively.
- Monitor project budgets and timelines closely.
- Ensure adherence to contractual obligations.
- Oversee all phases of construction projects from initial planning to final execution.
- Source competitive pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Provide comprehensive quantity take-offs.
- Organize and negotiate subcontractor bids to meet contract standards.
- Issue documented purchase orders as required.
- Develop and track project budgets and schedules diligently.
- Identify potential risks and manage change orders efficiently.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and clients.
- Review and manage all contract documentation.
- Collect and submit shop drawings for necessary approvals.
- Assist in procuring materials and ensure timely delivery to the site.
- Track and account for stored materials in payment estimates.
- Participate in pre-construction and progress meetings.
- Coordinate necessary locates prior to project initiation.
- Gather monthly usage data for payment estimate submissions.
- Ensure site personnel receive all required project documentation.
- Address any concerns raised by field personnel and office staff.
- Maintain comprehensive databases for material and labor costs along with unit pricing.
- Prepare detailed cost breakdowns for estimates and project progress tracking.
- Conduct meetings with clients to discuss service options and project updates.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction management.
- In-depth knowledge of underground utility construction, including various pipe types and systems.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with software such as Heavy Bid, Excel, and Word is preferred.
- Understanding of OSHA standards, particularly OSHA 10 and 30, along with basic underground utility protocols is preferred.
