Job Summary

Cooper-Booth Wholesale Company is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Driver Trainee to join our team. As a Driver Trainee, you will be trained to work as a Driver Helper while attending a CBW-approved driving school. Following completion of driving school and obtaining your CDL, you will complete paid on-the-job training for making deliveries as you continue to learn route driving.

Responsibilities
  • Assist Drivers with Deliveries: Help the driver with the loading, unloading, and delivery of products to customers, ensuring accurate and timely deliveries.
  • Product Handling: Safely handle and transport goods, ensuring they are delivered in good condition. This may involve lifting, carrying, and moving products within customer premises using a handcart.
  • Customer Interaction: Provide excellent customer service by interacting professionally with customers during deliveries. Address customer inquiries or direct them to the appropriate contact.
  • Safety and Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and company policies. Assist in ensuring that the delivery vehicle is operated safely and complies with all safety regulations.
  • Route Navigation: Support the driver in planning and navigating delivery routes, learning to efficiently manage time, and optimize delivery schedules.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Assist the driver in conducting routine vehicle inspections and reporting any maintenance needs to ensure the vehicle remains in safe and operating condition.
  • Training and Development: Participate in on-the-job training and education programs to learn the skills and knowledge necessary for a future driving position.
Qualifications
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required.
  • Must be 20 years of age or older. Federal guidelines require all CDL holders to be at least 21 years of age to operate a commercial motor vehicle across state lines.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • No prior professional driving experience required.
  • Experience in warehouse, distribution, or delivery environments is a plus.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work productively and independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with all levels of management.
  • Maintain composure in stressful situations.
  • Proper sense of urgency with all levels of management and employees.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and stay organized.
