Job Summary

The Commercial Analyst position at Kinder Morgan is a key role that supports the Commercial Group in monitoring ongoing business and identifying new business opportunities. This position is responsible for developing project economics, managing capital forecasts, and coordinating with operations and engineering teams.

Responsibilities
  • Develop project economics for all projects, including well connects, system expansions, and business development opportunities.
  • Manage capital forecasts with the Project Management organization for respective areas.
  • Coordinate with operations and engineering teams to obtain cost estimates.
  • Compile and manage daily schedules to be sent to Commercial, Operations, and other pertinent groups.
  • Follow through with Contract Admin and Accounting to ensure deal terms are documented and processed accurately.
  • Monitor and track drilling and well permitting activity using producer contacts.
  • Provide volume and capital projections to Financial Planning and Engineering for annual budget and quarterly updates for respective areas.
  • Evaluate expiring contracts for replacement and/or termination.
  • Prepare and/or assist in preparation of management presentations.
  • Manage the well connect process and serve as a point of contact for customers to facilitate well connects.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Commercial Group and other departments such as engineering, accounting, operations, and legal.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required. Business or engineering degree preferred. MBA or work toward an MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of energy experience.
  • Ability to recognize, develop, and capture commercial opportunities.
  • Basic knowledge of financial structure, ability to work with spreadsheets, proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and other business applications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups during sales calls, presentations, and other meetings utilizing written, verbal, and listening skills.
  • Must be willing to work occasional overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed and required.
  • Must possess strong organizational skills and provide attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with a team, takes direction from supervision, focus attention on details, follow work rules, and adhere to work schedules.
  • Be self-motivated, possess a positive work ethic.
  • Be able to deal with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy, and professionalism.
  • Work with Kinder Morgan operations to advocate customer needs.
  • Minimal travel will be required.
