The Role: As a Machine Learning Engineer at Primer, you will lead the development and improvement of our data-driven products, from research to production. You will leverage your expertise in data science, algorithms, and language models to design and develop distributed architectures, libraries, and systems with company-wide impact.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Investments: Understand the landscape of NLP problems and help Primer make strategic investments to ensure its leadership in the space.
  • Architecture and Development: Design and develop distributed architectures, libraries, and systems that drive company-wide impact.
  • Data Integration: Work with massive datasets, integrating features such as event and topic detection, relation extraction, summarization, entity recognition, document classification, multilingual NLP, and knowledge base generation.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate and influence cross-functional teams to drive Primer's technology vision and roadmap.
  • Issue Triage and Debugging: Triage issues, debug, and resolve problems by identifying sources of issues and their impact on operations and quality.
  • Engineering Best Practices: Improve and promote engineering best practices and design patterns across the company, motivating other engineers to follow high standards.

Requirements:

  • Education: BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience: 5+ years as a backend software engineer, integrating and deploying ML-driven functionality.
  • Skills: Mastery of data structures and algorithms, experience with machine learning algorithms and tools (e.g., Numpy, PyTorch, TensorFlow), and authoring APIs in Python or Golang.
  • Personal Qualities: Curiosity, enthusiasm, and a love for teaching and learning.
