Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Critical Care Per Diem Nurse to join our team at InsideHigherEd. As a Critical Care Per Diem Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care to ICU patients within our healthcare enterprise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, document, plan, implement, teach, develop, and evaluate a comprehensive nursing plan of care for patients
  • Deliver direct patient care, ensuring patient satisfaction and adherence to University policies and procedures
  • Train and delegate duties for Nursing Care Technicians (Nursing Assistants)
  • Collaborate with the nursing staff and team of physicians to increase communication and enhance patient outcomes
Requirements
  • Active Kentucky Registered Nurse (RN) license, Temporary Work Permit (TWP), Provisional License, or active compact state Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification for the Healthcare Provider
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50-100 pounds on a daily basis and 25-50 pounds frequently
  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit for long periods of time
Preferred Qualifications
  • BSN degree
  • At least 2 years of RN experience, preferably in critical care
Work Environment

The work environment for this position includes exposure to communicable diseases, hazards of radiation, and injury from intractable patients or sharp instruments.

Compensation

Per diem pay is based on the number of shifts agreed to work, with highest pay provided for night shift/weekend coverage. Pool pay based on levels:

  • Level II – 144 hours on Nights/6 week schedule = $60/hr
  • Level III – 216 hours any shift/6 week schedule = $70/hr
  • Level IV – 216 hours on Nights/6 week schedule = $75/hr
