Job Title: Application Security Architect Hybrid/Richmond, VA

At NorthHill Technology Resources, we are seeking an experienced Application Security Architect to join our team in Richmond, VA. As a key member of our security team, you will be responsible for providing leadership and guidance on application security and governance for our development teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement application security policies and standards based on industry best practices and standards such as NIST.
  • Translate security and technical policies into actionable requirements for development teams.
  • Communicate security risks and threats to various stakeholders, including business leaders and development teams.
  • Define, publish, and maintain application security governance processes and procedures.
  • Own the day-to-day life cycle management of application security, including threat assessment, threat modeling, and risk avoidance.
  • Serve as a subject-matter-expert and lead evangelist for Application Security, providing guidance and support to development teams.
  • Work closely with architecture, engineering, and application teams to advise on secure design for applications and ensure security.
  • Shift-Left and collaborate with DevOps teams to create policy as code.
  • Participate in working groups with other subject matter experts to define and review security standards and guidelines.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest security threats and trends, analyzing and mitigating threats to application security.
  • Develop and execute projects to enhance application security measures and provide guidance on vulnerability remediation.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of demonstrated cybersecurity experience, with a strong understanding of cybersecurity risks, technical control implementation, and industry-standard cybersecurity frameworks.
  • In-depth knowledge of application security, with expertise in infrastructure, system, and application design and implementation using data, web, mobile, cloud, and open-source technologies.
  • Experience with results interpretation of Dynamic Application Security Testing (DAST) reports and Static Application Security Testing (SAST) tools.
  • Knowledge of potential risks involved in application transitions from on-premises to cloud.
  • Capacity to work in a team environment, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated project management experience and ability to influence decision-makers.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with big data security solutions.
  • Leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of Open Security Architecture (OSA), The Well Architected Framework, and OWASP Application Security Verification Standard (ASVS).
  • Demonstrated ability to act as a thought leader in Cloud security for your existing organization.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and innovative approaches.
