Histology Technician

Inova Health System is seeking a skilled Histology Technician to join our team in Fairfax, Virginia.

The Histology Technician is responsible for preparing tissue samples for examination by pathologists. This involves cutting, staining, and embedding tissue sections to ensure accurate and timely results.

• Prepare tissue samples for examination by pathologists, including cutting, staining, and embedding.
• Prioritize and complete testing procedures in a timely and accurate manner.
• Maintain accurate records of all tests performed, in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Follow standard operating procedures for embedding, sectioning, and staining to ensure quality and consistency.
• Operate microtomes and other laboratory equipment to prepare tissue sections.
• Collaborate with pathologists and other laboratory staff to ensure accurate and timely results.

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year of experience as a Histology Technician or completion of an Inova Histology Tech Trainee program.
• ASCP HT/HTL certification preferred.
