Histology Technician

Inova Health System is seeking a skilled Histology Technician to join our team in Fairfax, Virginia.

The successful candidate will be responsible for orienting and embedding pathology specimens to ensure optimal sectioning. They will also perform clerical and computer tasks to support department quality operations and conduct routine/special staining procedures.

• Embed tissue specimens according to standard operating procedures.
• Communicate effectively with the team to ensure smooth workflow and STAT case handling.
• Meet quality and productivity standards, including embedding 35-40 cassettes per hour and cutting 20-25 quality slides per hour.
• Maintain accurate documentation, including variance forms, process specimen logs, and equipment maintenance logs.
• Participate in ongoing education and training to maintain certification and stay up-to-date with industry developments.

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 2 years of experience in histology or a related field.
• ASCP Histotechnician (HT) certification or equivalent.
