About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team at National Express LLC. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing malfunctions in diesel-powered vehicles, ensuring they are safe and roadworthy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair malfunctions in diesel-powered vehicles, including electrical, cooling, and lubricating systems.
  • Test-drive vehicles to ensure repairs are effective and safe.
  • Arrange for and obtain approval of major repairs before releasing vehicles from the maintenance facility.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area, adhering to all relevant federal, state, and local guidelines.
  • Identify and report additional maintenance and repairs needed, including those requiring higher qualification levels.
  • Record time spent, parts used, and repairs conducted on appropriate forms.
  • Perform road calls and on-the-road repairs as assigned.
  • Advise Lead Technicians of unsafe maintenance conditions or practices and/or vehicle abuse.
Requirements
  • Minimum of two to four years of experience as a Med/Hvy truck Fleet mechanic repair specialist.
  • Diagnostic, electrical, and AC skills are essential.
  • Technical knowledge of major vehicle systems and diesel equipment is required.
  • Previous fleet experience and familiarity with diesel and gasoline systems are necessary.
  • Possess the recommended minimum hand tools for a Diesel Technician.
  • Ability to use good judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Valid applicable state license (CDL preferred).
  • ASE Certification is desirable but not required.
