Job Summary:

The State of Oregon is seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician 2 to join our team. As an Autopsy Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting the Medical Examiner Division in the investigation of deaths that fit medical examiner criteria. This position requires a strong background in chemistry, biology, or microbiology, as well as experience in laboratory settings. Key Responsibilities:

Provide technical support to state forensic pathologists in preparing for and conducting medicolegal autopsies
Assist in the receiving and releasing of human remains to funeral homes or investigators
Maintain proper chain of custody over property and its associated paperwork
Coordinate morgue equipment and maintenance
Clean work areas as needed and organize and stock morgue equipment and supplies

Requirements:

A bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, or microbiology, or two years of Medical Laboratory Technician 1 level experience, or completion of a certified clinical laboratory training program, or a certificate or associate degree in an Applied Science from an accredited Medical or Clinical Laboratory Technician training program. Preferred skills include experience and proficiency in autopsy assistant practices, demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, and knowledge and experience following standard safety precautions.
