The Project Construction Manager operates under the guidance of the general superintendent or project manager. This role is primarily responsible for directing, managing, supervising, and coordinating all project activities, encompassing all trades, subcontractors, and company personnel to fulfill project requirements. Key responsibilities include ensuring timely progress according to the schedule, coordinating the delivery of materials and equipment, and managing subcontractor activities to prevent conflicts among various trades.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Project Construction Managers are tasked with planning, directing, and coordinating a diverse range of construction projects. They may oversee an entire project or specific segments. Availability is crucial, often requiring readiness to address delays, adverse weather, or emergencies at the job site. They are responsible for scheduling and coordinating all construction processes, including the selection, hiring, and management of specialty trade contractors and labor.

Project Construction Managers determine optimal methods for delivering materials to the construction site and develop cost-effective plans and schedules for project completion. They break down all necessary construction site activities into logical steps, budgeting the time required to meet established deadlines, which may involve sophisticated estimating and scheduling techniques using specialized software.

Project Construction Managers assist in selecting and coordinating trade contractors for specific project components. They assess labor needs and may supervise or oversee the hiring and dismissal of workers. They monitor the performance of all trade contractors, ensuring that all work is completed on schedule.

Project Construction Managers oversee the progress of construction activities, including the delivery and utilization of materials, tools, and equipment; worker productivity and safety; and construction quality. They are responsible for obtaining necessary permits and licenses and ensuring compliance with building and safety codes and regulations.

They supervise on-site work to guarantee that tasks are performed safely and efficiently, enforce site-specific safety plans, and conduct periodic safety inspections.

Project Construction Managers assist the project manager with ordering required materials and engage with subcontractors and suppliers. They inspect the work of each trade to confirm that quality standards are met and that construction aligns with plans and specifications.

They ensure adherence to project schedules by organizing, planning, monitoring, and inspecting work.

Daily progress reports are prepared to document work performed.

They maintain and enforce safety regulations and building code requirements, organize and lead weekly safety meetings with in-house trade staff and subcontractors, and conduct weekly progress meetings with staff and the owner's representatives.

Project Construction Managers coordinate work installation with Quality Control Plan requirements and develop detailed work plans for upcoming scheduled tasks.

Travel and work on job sites across the United States and its territories may be required.

Compensation ranges from $90,000 to $125,000, depending on experience.

Additional Duties:

Assist with project estimates, bid packages, schedule preparation, and budget management.

Support the Quality Manager/Project Manager in executing the project's quality plan.

Other duties as assigned.

Eligibility for access to government military bases is required, and a background check is mandatory.

Qualifications

Required Experience:
  • 6 years of construction-related experience as a Project Construction Manager or Foreman on industrial construction projects.
  • 4 years of experience as a Project Construction Manager or Foreman on tank or fueling system projects.
  • Approval by the United States Army Corps of Engineers to act as a superintendent on their projects.
  • Ability to obtain access to Federal installations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate work requirements with various staff, design teams, owners, and subcontractors.
  • Familiarity with OSHA construction standards and common safety practices.
  • Familiarity with EM construction standards and safety requirements.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and work well under stress while meeting deadlines.

  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA construction regulations.

Preferred Experience:
  • Experience with government contracting is advantageous.
  • Experience with welding and/or fitting carbon steel and stainless steel pipe is a plus.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS:
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and possess a valid driver's license with proof of insurance.
