Role Overview
The Accounting Specialist position is pivotal in managing the timely resolution of credit and payment discrepancies, as well as ensuring efficient collection of accounts receivable. This role demands a self-driven individual with strong problem-solving capabilities, adept at identifying challenges and possessing a solid understanding of general accounting principles. You will be expected to work autonomously and collaboratively to devise and implement effective solutions.

  • Financial Transaction Optimization
    • Conduct payment and billing reconciliations, utilizing advanced Excel skills as necessary.
  • Dispute Management
    • Handle short pays and chargebacks, along with pricing issues.
  • Accounts Receivable Monitoring
    • Engage with clients through various communication channels to monitor and collect outstanding receivables.
  • Client Relationship Development
    • Enhance relationships with clients by addressing past-due accounts and maintaining open lines of communication.
  • Credit Management
    • Review and authorize orders for shipment when exceptions arise, ensuring proper credit limits and risk categories are maintained.
  • Credit Report Analysis
    • Utilize Bureau van Dijk to ensure compliance with Nordson's credit limit standards.
  • Reporting and Metrics
    • Prepare month-end accounts receivable reports and metrics.
  • Audit Support
    • Assist with audit requests as required.
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Education:
    • Preferred: High School Diploma or GED; Associate or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Experience:
    • 4-6 years of relevant experience with an Associate degree; 8 years without a degree.
    • Strong mathematical aptitude and exceptional time management skills.
    • Proficient in credit and collections with a focus on customer service.
    • Intermediate Excel skills, including formulas and pivot tables.
    • Basic understanding of accounting principles related to the Order to Cash process.
Preferred Skills
  • Knowledge of credit reports and risk analysis.
  • Understanding of audit and SOX compliance.
  • Experience in the manufacturing sector is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
