Animal Care Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Animal Care Specialist to join our team at the Putnam County Animal Control Shelter. As an Animal Care Specialist, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care and attention to the animals in our shelter, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being.
Key Responsibilities- Provide daily care and maintenance of animal enclosures, including cleaning, disinfecting, and providing food and water.
- Assist with animal intake, including receiving and processing animals, and providing information to the public.
- Monitor animal behavior and report any signs of illness or stress to the shelter manager.
- Assist with adoptions, including preparing animals for adoption and providing information to potential adopters.
- Participate in shelter events and activities, such as adoption fairs and community outreach programs.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- One year of experience working with animals, preferably in a shelter or animal care setting.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment.
