Role Overview: The computer science curriculum at DCI aligns with AP Computer Science Principles and AP Computer Science A standards. In introductory courses, students explore fundamental coding concepts, data structures, and algorithms. They also investigate career opportunities in IT, the ethical implications of technology use, and the broader architecture of the internet and networks. Advanced students will engage in the two AP courses later in their academic journey.
Compensation: $63,113 - $114,845 (Starting salary is based on educational qualifications and relevant experience)
Required Qualifications:
- A Master's Degree in secondary education or a related field is preferred (Bachelor's Degree is mandatory).
- Prior experience in teaching this subject area or professional experience in software development.
- Proficiency in utilizing various technology platforms for instructional guidance and communication with students and families, with a preference for familiarity with G Suite tools, including Gmail.
- Knowledge of JavaScript, Python, and/or Java programming languages, or a willingness to learn on the job.
- Deliver outstanding Computer Science education to a diverse student population.
- Guide students through advisory roles, including teaching an advisory class using our established curriculum, and support other instructional initiatives.
- Possess the capacity to thrive in a high-performing charter school environment while maintaining organization, responsibility, and accountability.
- Effectively manage the classroom learning atmosphere in alignment with the school's discipline framework to enhance student engagement and learning.
- Welcome and implement constructive feedback for ongoing improvement.
- Demonstrate interest and commitment to engaging in the IB MYP, IB DP, IB CP, and language immersion programs.
- Participate in professional development activities to enhance instructional delivery.
- Collaborate with general and special education teachers, coordinators, and school leadership.
- Maintain high levels of communication with parents and students through various channels.
- Celebrate and integrate Chinese, Spanish, and French cultures by leading and participating in cultural initiatives for faculty and students.
- Ensure effective implementation of our 1:1 Chromebook program by integrating technology into teaching practices.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
