Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrician I to join our team at Baltimore County. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing electrical installation, maintenance, and repair work under the guidance of an Electrician II.

Key Responsibilities
  • Installs, tests, and replaces components of electrical circuitry and internal power distribution systems.
  • Assists in the testing, repair, and replacement of electrical generators, transformers, and uninterrupted power systems.
  • Installs, maintains, and repairs electrically operated equipment and appliances, including heating, air conditioning, pumping, and solid state control systems.
  • Assists in the installation, testing, and repair of door bells, buzzers, fire alarm and security systems, thermostats, lighting fixtures, and communications systems.
  • Uses tools and equipment of the electrical trade.
  • Reads blueprints, plans, and schematic drawings.
  • Follows safety procedures and electrical codes.
Requirements
  • Two years' experience in electrical installation, maintenance, or repair.
  • Related training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
  • Licenses and Certificates: Some positions may require possession of a valid driver's license equivalent to a non-commercial, class C Maryland driver's license at the time of appointment.
Working Conditions

The work of this classification entails the performance of heavy physical labor, including bending, stooping, climbing ladders, lifting and carrying heavy objects, and the operation of tools and equipment. Some duties require exposure to potentially hazardous conditions such as high voltage electricity and adverse weather.
