Position Overview

The Registered Dietitian Nutritionist plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional nutrition care and education to patients and their families at the Mount Sinai Health System. This position operates under the guidance of the Director of Clinical Nutrition.

Key Responsibilities
  • Nutritional Assessment: Evaluate the nutritional status of patients and tailor nutrition therapy to meet their specific needs.
  • Patient Counseling: Provide comprehensive nutrition counseling to patients and their families as required.
  • Care Coordination: Engage in activities that promote patient-centered care within designated units.
  • Policy Adherence: Follow departmental and institutional standards, objectives, and procedures diligently.
  • Documentation: Record relevant findings in the medical record in accordance with established policies.
  • Care Plan Evaluation: Assess the effectiveness of nutrition care plans and suggest modifications as necessary.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and communicate effectively with healthcare team members.
  • Nutrition Support: Assess the need for enteral and parenteral nutrition support and provide recommendations accordingly.
  • Discharge Planning: Assist in planning for patient discharge as needed.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience, excluding dietetic internship.
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) credential from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
Additional Skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
