MISSION STATEMENT

Plus, we take our commitment to revitalization one step further with our Compliance and Nuisance Abatement programs, requiring renovation and occupancy to improve neighborhoods, eliminate blight, and combat real estate speculation. The Detroit Land Bank Authority works directly with individual buyers, as well as Community Partner organizations and developers for projects big and small.
ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a motivated individual with a passion for community enhancement and development to contribute to our mission of improving the quality of life in our vibrant and diverse community.
The Title Review Processor position involves investigating real estate documentation, analyzing titles, and reviewing records such as mortgages, liens, judgments, plat maps, tax data, and summarizing recorded documents that impact property titles, along with other assigned responsibilities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reviewing title reports to ascertain property ownership, lien hierarchy, outstanding taxes, and other delinquent amounts and title defects.
- Updating the DLBA system with title summaries.
- Engaging with clients, title companies, and external City partners.
- Collaborating with internal attorneys to resolve title issues.
- Collecting and submitting BSEED release requests and following up with the Internal Revenue Service and Building Safety Engineering and Environmental Department (BSEED).
- Retrieving FOIA packets and any other necessary documents from the Wayne County office.
- Coordinating with Compliance to monitor and process Reconveyances and Release of Interests.
- Performing other related duties as assigned by leadership.
- High School diploma or GED equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
- Prior experience in customer service or a related field.
- One (1) year of title processing, examination, or related experience is preferred.
- Ability to manage a large volume of files and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical thinking, research skills, and attention to detail.
- Must be able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team while multitasking.
- Qualified candidates must demonstrate excellent computer, organizational, and time management skills.
- Experience in all aspects of title analysis, including understanding chain of title and defects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing client requirements.
- Superior decision-making abilities.
- Strong attention to detail in reading and extracting information from documents, then accurately entering that information into reports or software.
- Clear and concise writing skills, with the ability to simplify complex title situations for clients.
- Must be able to walk or use City transportation to travel to municipal offices.
