About the Role

The City of Wichita, in partnership with the Board of Trustees, seeks an accomplished Executive Director for the Mid-America All-Indian Museum to lead the development, delivery, and coordination of educational programs aligning with the Museums mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advance the Mid-America All-Indian Museums mission of education about and preservation of American Indian culture and art by fostering community engagement and promoting cultural awareness.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance the museums reputation, visibility, and impact.
  • Lead a team of professionals in the development, delivery, and evaluation of educational programs, exhibitions, and events.
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including tribal communities, donors, and partners.
  • Manage the museums budget, resources, and operations to ensure financial sustainability and effectiveness.
  • Develop and implement fundraising strategies to support the museums programs and operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Museum Studies, Arts Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in museum leadership, with a proven track record of success.
  • Strong knowledge of American Indian culture, history, and art.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
