PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Licensing: Must hold a valid Pennsylvania Practical Nursing License.
  • Preferred expertise in urological nursing.
  • Experience in monitoring post-procedure patients or critical care nursing is advantageous.
  • Current BLS certification is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact compassionately, professionally, and courteously with patients, their families, physicians, and colleagues.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:
  • Full range of body motion, including manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Frequent mobility and/or prolonged sitting may be necessary.
  • Some bending, lifting, and stooping may be required.
  • Normal color perception and visual acuity, either normal or corrected.
  • Hearing should be normal or corrected to normal range.
  • Manual dexterity to operate keyboard, calculator, and photocopier.
  • Engagement with scheduling, management of information, and communication with medical personnel and patients.
  • Occasional high-stress situations may involve managing demanding patients and/or personnel.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Safe and clean environment within an ambulatory care setting.
  • Potential exposure to communicable diseases.
  • Exposure to clinical chemicals (e.g., formaldehyde, glutaraldehyde).
DUTIES AND TASKS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
  1. Ensures patient comfort and safety.
  2. Individualizes care based on each patient's unique needs.
  3. Adheres to safety and infection control protocols.
  4. Verifies patient identity and reviews medical records for consent and necessary documentation.
  5. Accurately conducts and records pre-procedure nursing assessments.
  6. Understands the use and interpretation of monitoring equipment.
  7. Familiar with medication dosages, routes of administration, and potential adverse reactions.
  8. Identifies emergency situations and intervenes effectively.
  9. Possesses knowledge of all relevant equipment and procedures.
  10. Continuously monitors patient conditions and maintains precise documentation throughout the care process.
  11. Instructs patients on routine discharge instructions and reviews these with responsible parties post-procedure.
  12. Maintains accurate narcotics documentation and performs regular counts with another staff member.
  13. Assists in orienting new personnel.
  14. Communicates pertinent information to physicians and nursing staff to ensure continuity of care.
  15. Upholds patient confidentiality.
  16. Implements and complies with all organizational policies.
  17. Monitors patients and directs LPN/Nursing Assistant/Technician during procedures.
  18. Assists physicians during surgical procedures.
CLERICAL NURSING RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Records vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, and pulse for each patient.
  2. Reviews and documents patients' current medications and allergies during each visit.
  3. Ensures patient confidentiality through appropriate privacy measures.
  4. Obtains necessary diagnostic studies prior to patient visits.
  5. Provides educational materials and instructions to patients as per physician orders.
  6. Administers medications as prescribed by the physician.
  7. Maintains knowledge of insurance criteria related to laboratory and procedural requirements.
  8. Documents all aspects of patient care in accordance with organizational policies.
  9. Performs follow-up calls and assists with patient care programs as assigned.
