We're currently seeking a Mental Health Professional to join our counseling team in Blacksburg, VA to help us in our mission. The Residential Well-being (RWB) model at Virginia Tech is an innovative, wrap-around approach to inclusion, belonging, and mental health support in the campus environment. The residential well-being embedded counselor will support students both in the Cook Counseling Center and in the residence halls providing evening appointments, crisis coverage, outreach and consultation to residential well-being staff, outreach to students living in the community, as well as follow up coordination with residents. The position will report to a supervisor in the counseling center and coordinate with the managing directors for the campus community.

Key Responsibilities
1. Provide individual services to students including initial assessment and treatment planning; conduct individual, couples, and group psychotherapy to students; conduct crisis interventions and after-hours on-call rotations as needed; provide outreach and trainings to the university community
2. Work 2:00 pm - 11:00 pm Monday through Thursday and 8:00 am - 5:00 pm on Friday. Weekly meetings will include Cook Counseling staff meetings, small group supervision, as well as various RWB meetings.
3. Grow and take advantage of a developmental plan with opportunities to advance within the Department and the Division.

Requirements
Masters degree in clinical or counseling psychology or social work
Eligibility for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia
Supervised experience in a mental health setting. Supervision may be provided with a goal of licensure within two years of hire.

Preferred Qualifications
Interest and experience working with underrepresented students and international students.
Experience working in a college counseling center
Experience working with Housing/Residence Life.
Experience with outreach and educational programming.
Experience providing group psychotherapy.
Experience with managing crisis situations, completing risk assessments, and disposition planning to address safety risks.
Well-developed counseling and clinical supervision skills.
A self-motivated, self-directed commitment to the highest ethical standards of professional practice.
The energy to flexibly manage the professional demands of the role while maintaining positive and healthy relationships.
