The Senior Accountant plays a crucial role in managing comprehensive accounting functions by overseeing and validating financial transactions. This position entails the preparation of intricate financial reports, conducting account reconciliations, ensuring adherence to accounting standards, and providing leadership within the accounting division.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting:
- Compile and assess monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Guarantee timely and precise reporting of all financial data.
- General Ledger Oversight:
- Supervise the upkeep and reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
- Prepare and evaluate journal entries and adjustments.
- Month-End and Year-End Closing:
- Participate in the month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Ensure all financial deadlines are adhered to and accurate financial information is reported.
- Account Reconciliation:
- Conduct and review complex account reconciliations.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Audit and Compliance:
- Prepare for and assist with internal and external audits.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory standards.
- Develop and uphold internal control policies and procedures.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Support the development of budgets and financial forecasts.
- Monitor budget performance and report on variances.
- Tax Compliance:
- Prepare and review tax submissions and ensure timely filing.
- Assist with tax planning and compliance matters.
- Team Leadership and Development:
- Offer guidance and support to junior accounting personnel.
- Train and mentor staff accountants and other team members.
- Special Projects:
- Lead or engage in special projects and process enhancement initiatives.
- Collaborate with other departments to improve financial operations and reporting.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA certification or equivalent is preferred.
- 3-6 years of accounting experience.
- Proficiency in accounting software, with NetSuite preferred.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other Office Suite applications.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks concurrently.
- Experience in public accounting or audit.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and financial software.
- Remote office setting with standard working hours.
- Occasional overtime may be required during peak periods.
- Ability to sit for extended periods.
- Ability to use a computer and other office equipment.
