Role Summary

The Legal Counsel will deliver comprehensive legal services and strategic guidance to facilitate the success of SunGrid Solutions. Reporting to the General Counsel or designated management personnel, this role is based in our corporate offices, with a flexible hybrid work schedule available. Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, with potential for additional hours as necessary. Travel requirements are minimal, expected to be less than 10%.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement the objectives of the legal department and assist team members effectively.
  • Negotiate and draft primary and supplementary contracts for project execution.
  • Manage and resolve disputes as they arise.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for non-standard project delivery requirements, including tax exemptions and compliance.
  • Provide legal assistance to colleagues across the organization.
  • Support the Finance team with matters related to insurance, surety, and corporate governance.
  • Interpret contract terms and advise on compliance issues.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited institution, with a minimum of five years of legal experience.
  • Proven experience in contract negotiation and management is essential.
  • Familiarity with the construction or engineering sectors is advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within diverse teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • A proactive approach to working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment is essential.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent stationary position, with the ability to sit for extended periods.
  • Occasional movement, including bending and walking.
  • Ability to lift light to moderate weights as needed.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to engage with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Frequent visual engagement with computer screens and documents.
  • Occasional stair navigation to access different office levels.
  • Minimal travel required, up to 10% as necessary.
