Health Unit Coordinator Critical Care Unit

We are seeking a skilled Health Unit Coordinator to join our team at Covenant Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide exceptional support to our nursing unit, ensuring seamless operations and delivering outstanding patient care.
Responsibilities- Provide clerical and secretarial services to the nursing unit, ensuring accurate and timely completion of tasks.
- Ensure STAT orders are brought to the attention of licensed nursing personnel, promoting prompt and effective care.
- Transcribe physician's orders accurately and notify consults as ordered, maintaining clear communication channels.
- Requisition supplies and equipment, maintaining inventory levels and ensuring the unit is well-stocked.
- Answer telephone and intercoms, relaying and documenting messages, and ensuring timely follow-up on patient requests.
- Assist physicians in obtaining reports from lab, radiology, and other departments, facilitating efficient care.
- Schedule patient tests, diagnostic procedures, and doctor's appointments, ensuring seamless coordination.
- Organize patient charts in proper sequence, labeling and replenishing necessary forms.
- Employ established infection control policies, adhering to OSHA standards and safety measures.
- Act as a preceptor to HUC I, sharing knowledge and expertise.
- Obtain patient records from other facilities, maintaining accurate and up-to-date information.
- Manage patient flow via flowboard, ensuring efficient and effective care.
- Assure appropriate discharge disposition in electronic medical records.
- Follow policies, procedures, and safety standards, completing required education assignments annually.
We are seeking candidates with a strong foundation in healthcare, preferably with a CNA, MA, or EMT certification. A minimum of six months of experience in a HUC I role or equivalent is required. Completion of the Covenant Health's Patient Care Assistant training protocol is also necessary. For HUC II working in Cardiac Areas, completion of Apex modules 1-6 and/or telemetry class is required prior to hire or placement in a HUC II role.
