Renewable Energy Lawyer Job Description

RWE Renewables America, LLC is seeking a highly skilled Renewable Energy Lawyer to provide legal support for our renewable energy business teams. The successful candidate will work on complex construction projects related to procurement and provide legal advice on renewable energy project procurement, construction, and operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide legal advice on renewable energy project procurement, construction, and operations
  • Draft and negotiate procurement and construction contracts, including turbine supply agreements, balance of plant agreements, and EPC(I) & turnkey contracts
  • Negotiate terms and conditions for the purchase of non-project based goods and services
  • Provide legal support on HSE, R&D, IP, IT, and insurance matters
  • Anticipate and mitigate potential legal problems within the organization and develop strategies to avoid litigation and reduce potential areas of risk
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, including Procurement, Pre-Construction, Project Execution, Tax, Credit, Accounting, and Insurance
  • Provide project-specific legal support to Project Execution teams and project managers
  • Manage external legal counsel retained for specialized practices areas
  • Maintain and update contract templates and other commonly requested legal forms
Requirements:
  • J.D. from an accredited university
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in construction law or related field
  • Licensed to practice law in Illinois or New York
  • Strong experience working on complex construction projects and/or related procurement in a law firm or company
  • Excellent commercial, technical, and strategic understanding
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage customer relationships
  • Ability to demonstrate practical, rather than theoretical focus to legal issues
