About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our team at Mission Edge. As an Early Intervention Occupational Therapist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality, inclusive early childhood education and therapy services to children aged 0-3 and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver Direct Services: Provide occupational therapy services to children with diverse needs, fostering their motor, sensory, and cognitive development in a home-based setting.
  • Develop Individualized Treatment Plans: Collaborate with parents and other professionals to create and implement tailored treatment plans that address the unique needs of each child.
  • Conduct Assessments and Evaluations: Conduct thorough assessments and evaluations in children's homes to identify specific therapeutic needs and develop effective treatment strategies.
  • Provide Education and Training: Educate and train parents or caregivers on strategies to support their child's development and address specific challenges, promoting a collaborative approach to therapy.
  • Collaborate with Interdisciplinary Teams: Work closely with a team of therapists, teachers, and other professionals to co-create and facilitate transdisciplinary early intervention-focused curriculum and share best practices.
  • Document and Maintain Records: Accurately document and maintain records of assessments, treatment plans, progress reports, and administrative tasks, ensuring seamless communication with parents and stakeholders.
  • Communicate with Families: Regularly communicate with parents/caregivers to provide updates on their child's progress, involve them in goal-setting and treatment planning, and promote a sense of ownership and empowerment.
  • Plan and Lead Community Classes: Plan and lead community classes and therapeutic playgroups, promoting socialization, skill-building, and family engagement.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy: Possess a Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • CA State Licensure: Hold CA State licensure as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Experience Working with Young Children: Have experience working with young children in educational or therapeutic settings.
  • Knowledge of Inclusive Education and Early Childhood Development: Possess knowledge of best practices in inclusive education and early childhood development.
  • Excellent Communication and Collaboration Skills: Demonstrate excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with children, families, and a multidisciplinary team.
  • Adaptability and Flexibility: Show adaptability and flexibility in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, with a willingness to learn and grow with the organization.
Working Hours and Physical Requirements
  • Approximate 35 Hours per Week: Work approximately 35 hours per week providing home visit therapy to clients, including travel time.
  • Approximate 4 Hours Collaboration and Admin Time: Spend approximately 4 hours per week on collaboration and administrative tasks.
  • Approximate 1 Hour per Week Teaching Community Classes: Teach community classes and therapeutic playgroups for approximately 1 hour per week.
  • Physical Requirements: Be comfortable standing for 2+ hours per day, stooping, bending, climbing, and walking frequently, and lifting up to 40 pounds.
