About the Role

A&E Engineering, Inc. is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Specialist to join our team. As an Electrical Design Specialist, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical systems for various projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Electrical Calculations and Analysis: Perform electrical calculations and circuit/system analysis to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Equipment Sizing: Size electrical equipment, including service entrance, power distribution panels, and MCC's, to meet project requirements.
  • Trip Setting Recommendations: Review and recommend trip settings for protective devices to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Arc Flash Evaluations: Perform Arc Flash Evaluations to determine the incident energy and arc flash boundary, and make recommendations to reduce fault clearing times or arc flash hazards.
  • System Optimization: Determine and review Load flow, short circuit, and TCC curves for system optimization, and make recommendations to improve system performance.
  • Protective Clothing Requirements: Determine and recommend protective clothing requirements based on study output to ensure employee safety.
  • Power System Modeling and Analysis: Perform power system modeling and analysis, including gathering field data, to ensure accurate system design.
  • Electrical Fault Calculations: Perform electrical fault calculations, load flow, coordination, and determine arc flash hazards to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • CAD Drafting: Perform CAD drafting on projects, as needed, to ensure accurate and detailed design documentation.
  • Education and Certifications: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (power discipline) from an ABET Accredited Institution, and Professional Engineering (PE) License or ability to obtain within one year.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficient in the following software: AutoCAD, SKM, or Easy Power.
  • Industry Knowledge: Proficient understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC), and knowledge of arc flash hazards and OSHA standards.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, as well as verbal and written communications, to effectively collaborate with team members and communicate with clients.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (power discipline) from an ABET Accredited Institution.
  • Certifications: Professional Engineering (PE) License or ability to obtain within one year.
  • Software Skills: Proficient in the following software: AutoCAD, SKM, or Easy Power.
