Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Library Assistant to join our team at the Creation Lab in the Town of Flower Mound, TX. As a key member of our team, you will provide exceptional support to our users, assist with planning and presenting Library programs, and maintain a positive and friendly demeanor at all times.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide reference and reader advisory services to Library patrons
  • Assist with planning, promoting, presenting, and evaluating Library programs, including outreach services
  • Assist with the creation and development of promotional materials (print and digital)
  • Maintain an awareness of literature services and reference sources, and of public library trends, methods, and ethics
  • Perform other duties specific to the department, specialized assignments, or as assigned
Requirements
  • A High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) is required
  • Must possess a valid state-issued driver's license and driving record must be in compliance with Town policy
  • One (1) year of public library experience is preferred
Desired Qualifications
  • Some college preferred
  • Able and willing to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekend hours
  • Knowledge of the practices and principles of public library operations
  • Excellent English communicative skills, both oral and written, to include spelling, grammar, and punctuation
Physical Abilities
  • To perform essential functions of the job, must be able to type; understand and carry out oral and written directives; work well under pressure and stress; handle multiple tasks; prioritize and organize work assignments; lift up to 25 lbs. of heavy boxes, books, equipment, etc.; file and retrieve items stored on high bookshelves; stand for long periods of time; walk, bend, stoop, reach, climb, see, talk, hear, and write; work in confined spaces; maintain a pleasant and friendly demeanor at all times
Benefits

Regular Part Time employees accrue 3.34 hours of vacation leave and 4 hours of sick leave per month. All regular employees who are scheduled to work a minimum of one thousand (1,000) hours annually will participate in the Texas Municipal Retirement System.
