Senior Counsel - IP Special Deals & Analytics

At Apple, we're pushing the boundaries of innovation and creativity. As a Senior Counsel on our IP Special Deals & Analytics team, you'll play a critical role in shaping the future of our company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Negotiate, value, and draft IP license, acquisition, and settlement agreements.
  • Identify key areas of IP risk and opportunity, and develop innovative ways to address them.
  • Curate and provide centralized IP data and intelligence to inform decision-making and strategy.
  • Develop comprehensive diligence and analysis for incoming IP disputes.
  • Work closely with Apple's IP Litigation and IP Transactions teams, as well as outside counsel and experts, to develop royalty and valuation theories.
  • Craft partnerships with Apple's Operations, Finance, and other teams to develop and drive IP dispute strategies.
  • Influence critical business decisions related to IP deals and negotiation with data-driven analysis and innovative approaches.

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience at a top law firm, in-house legal department, and/or patent transactions entity.
  • In-depth experience independently managing complex, multi-party IP disputes and transactions, both in litigation and outside of litigation.
  • Deep knowledge of patent license and other IP transactions agreement principles.
  • JD or equivalent and admission to at least one US state bar.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with and knowledge of stakeholders in the patent monetization space, including pools, aggregators, brokers, and litigation funders.
  • Experience managing cross-border IP issues.
  • Ability to advise and coordinate with all types of business, legal, and engineering clients in an unstructured environment.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic problem solver with the ability to see the big picture while working with ambiguity and uncertainty.
  • Good judgment and strong organizational skills.
  • Proven track record of working independently and taking ownership.
