Job Summary

Apple is seeking a highly skilled Senior Legal Counsel to join our IP Transactions team. As a key member of our in-house legal team, you will play a critical role in upholding Apple's high ethical and corporate standards, as well as defending our intellectual property.

About the Role

In this role, you will focus primarily on worldwide, standard-essential patent (SEP) licensing, a dynamic area of law of critical importance to Apple's business. You will need to thrive in a fast-paced environment that requires digging into patented technologies and related economics, collaborating across teams, planning, communicating, and executing complex negotiation strategies, and negotiating and drafting the terms of licensing and other IP-related agreements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build on a strong foundation of SEP litigation and/or SEP licensing experience to become an expert in worldwide SEP licensing law and practice.
  • Apply expertise in high-stakes negotiations, collaborating across teams, and executing complex negotiation strategies.
  • Formulate and drive strategy and provide counsel to clients at all levels of management.

Requirements

  • 8+ years' experience in patent litigation and/or IP licensing transactions.
  • Substantial experience resolving SEP disputes and negotiating SEP licenses.
  • JD or equivalent and admission to at least one US state bar.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Degree in engineering or computer science preferred.

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $221,600 and $333,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
