Job Summary

The Electrophysiology Technologist provides direct and indirect patient care facilitating electrophysiology procedures through room preparation, patient preparation, and assisting physicians with procedures in scrubbing, monitoring, and circulating roles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepares procedure room using infection control guidelines and ensures radiation protection techniques are followed.
  • Accurately sets up EP equipment and ensures proper use of RF generator and stimulator.
  • Monitors patient's electrocardiogram and reports rhythm disturbances to physician.
  • Assists with recovery duties, including obtaining hemostasis as needed and safely returning patients to room or nursing unit after procedure.
  • Orders and restocks supplies as needed and retrieves supplies from Central Supply and Material Services.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of a health sciences program.
  • 2 years EP or Cardiac Cath Lab experience.
  • RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) or RCES (Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist) certification.
