Job Description

**About the Role**

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Systems Administrator to join our technical team at Life Science Connect. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and security of our systems infrastructure, as well as providing top-notch support to our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure reliable monitoring and alerting for systems infrastructure
  • Implement identity management on platforms using Azure Active Directory and Active Directory Domain Service
  • Develop and deploy Group Policy objects that optimize the organization's global security posture and enhance end-user workflows
  • Install, configure, manage, patch, and secure hardware and software according to established standards and compliance requirements
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures, processes, and troubleshooting documents
  • Establish efficiency and efficacy standards, providing recommendations for improvement of IT infrastructure
  • Analyze IT infrastructure and system performance to assess operating costs, productivity level, upgrade requirements, and other metrics and needs
  • Oversee the facilitation of systems, networks, and enterprise information
  • Facilitate IT security audits or investigations
  • Monitor and manage the IT budget to ensure effective delivery of IT services
  • Independently identify, research, and resolve technical problems
  • Manage file, print, and application servers
  • Maintain inventory and licensing records for hardware and software acquisitions
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external IT vendors and service providers
  • Develop technical designs and estimates to meet business needs while supporting the company's overall IT direction and standards
  • Create and maintain up-to-date network architecture diagrams

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other IT-related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience in IT and System Administration
  • Available to work off-hours to perform maintenance or in case of emergencies
  • Solid understanding of network protocols
  • Experience supporting an array of applications on Windows operating systems, including Microsoft Office, SharePoint, email, VPN clients, firewalls, disk encryption, and antivirus software
  • Microsoft Active Directory administration experience
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing hardware and network problems in virtual and physical environments
  • Customer service-focused and excellent time management skills
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, well-organized, and ability to prioritize work
  • Windows Server OS and Linux server OS (Various Versions)
  • Windows Services: AD, DNS, LDAP, etc.
  • Administration of Office 365
  • Antivirus/Antimalware experience
  • System Backup and Recovery experience
  • 4-5 years of Azure Cloud management experience
  • Experience with System Security Design and Principles
  • Experience with Scripting, including PowerShell or Bash
  • Previous experience working with external vendors/suppliers and contractors to complete necessary work
  • Demonstrated cross-functional ability to work with fellow IT associates to identify root problems and design solutions to resolve
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), and planning skills

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Pure Storage experience a plus
