Viterbo University is seeking an On-call Campus Safety & Event Officer dedicated to safeguarding the campus community, including students, staff, and visitors. The officer will also provide security during various campus events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular foot patrols across campus facilities and grounds to deter crime and enhance security.
- Ensure safety during events, particularly for performances held in the Fine Arts Center.
- Address complaints and disturbances promptly to avert potentially hazardous situations.
- Investigate incidents, gather evidence, interview witnesses, and compile incident reports.
- Identify and report safety and security hazards to the Director of Campus Safety.
- Monitor surveillance systems, fire alarms, and other emergency notification systems.
- Assist in the preparation of administrative and operational reports, maintaining records of safety protocols.
- Act as a liaison with external emergency services and law enforcement.
- Support the organization and efficiency of operations within the Campus Safety Office.
- Perform routine inspections of emergency equipment, including AEDs and fire extinguishers.
- Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Availability to work during holidays and cover shifts as necessary.
Qualifications:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with prior experience in the security field. Candidates must possess CPR/AED certifications at the time of hire or be able to obtain them within six months. Authorization to work in the United States is mandatory, and Viterbo University does not sponsor employment visas.
Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to perform essential duties effectively. Reasonable accommodations may be provided for individuals with disabilities. A background check will be conducted through the Human Resources Office.
Working Conditions:
This position involves exposure to various environmental conditions and a reasonable risk of occupational exposure to infectious materials.
Physical Demands:
The role requires a mix of sitting, walking, and standing, with occasional lifting and carrying of weights up to 50 pounds. Candidates should be prepared for a physically active work environment.
