Civil Engineer

Gila County Arizona is seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer to join our team in the Public Works department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing professional civil engineering services involved in the planning, designing, constructing, and maintaining of roads, drainage structures, County facilities, landfills, subdivision reviews, utilities, and other County-related projects.

• Project Management: Manage and oversee the planning, design, and construction of public works projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
• Design and Development: Prepare and review technical drawings, plans, and exhibits for civil engineering projects, using Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) software.
• Contract Administration: Prepare and administer contracts for consultant services, including Request for Proposals, bid analysis, and contract negotiation.
• Inspection and Quality Control: Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and standards, and identify and report any deviations or issues.
• Communication and Collaboration: Liaise with consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Experience: Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in professional civil engineering planning, designing, constructing, inspecting, and maintaining of roads, drainage structures, subdivisions, or other public works facilities.
• Credentials: Current professional registration by the State of Arizona as a Civil Engineer or valid registration as a Civil Engineer with another state and the ability to successfully possess a State of Arizona Civil Engineer Registration within one (1) year of appointment to the position.

The incumbent in this position will perform work in a standard office environment as well as on location at construction work sites, exposing them to variable and/or extreme weather conditions and general construction hazards.
