Hematology/Oncology Nurse

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Hematology/Oncology Nurse to join our team at Nicklaus Children's Health System. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and upholding the highest standards of patient safety and satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and deliver care utilizing nursing processes, including assessment, implementation, and evaluation.
- Oversee patient care plans, utilize effective problem-solving strategies, and apply evidence-based practice.
- Support and uphold quality standards of a Magnet designated hospital and Patient Bill of Rights.
- Provide compassionate and family-centered care to patients with Hematology/Oncology conditions.
- Ensure completion of patient admission history and prepare accurate discharge planning processes.
- Plan, implement, and document patient care plans in collaboration with other disciplines and services.
- Administer chemotherapy and patient medications, adhering to six rights of medication administration.
- Provide nursing care to immuno-compromised patients, including central line monitoring, IV site monitoring, and lab draws.
- Perform interventions such as electrolyte infusions, sepsis monitoring, and transfusions with blood products.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in daily care planning rounds and foster a Family Centered Care Environment.
- Utilize electronic innovations to provide efficient patient care and attend to patient call lights in a manner that promotes patient safety.
- Verifies patient roadmap, protocol, and orders for correctness and accuracy upon admission.
- Ensures safe analgesics/narcotics administration, monitoring, and reassessment.
- Completes all nursing multi-system assessments, including head-to-toe, vitals, dressing changes, suction, feeding, bathing, and repositioning.
- Ensures proper and safe wound care, as required by Wound Care Policy and procedures.
- Accesses electronic health records independently and completes accurate and timely documentation.
- Communicates with patients and families to review plan of care and solicits input and communicates any patient and family concerns to physician.
