Medical Assistant

Job Summary:
This position is responsible for assisting clinicians and nursing staff in providing medical care, as well as implementing and evaluating direct patient care. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology and be able to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare patients for exams and treatment by taking and recording vital signs, symptoms, and other necessary measurements.
- Assist providers with exams and minor in-office procedures, including taking patients' blood pressure, documenting respiration and heart rate/pulse, and performing phlebotomies.
- Coordinate and manage patient care, including pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, prescriptions, and scheduling of patients for clinic, hospital, and other ancillary medical treatments and tests.
- Provide clerical support with patient/client notifications and documentation, including complete medical records and billing information.
- Maintain a clean, functional environment, including cleaning and disinfection of equipment, exam rooms, and storage areas.
Requirements:
A high school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge, as well as completion of an approved medical assistant training program. Certification as a medical assistant is preferred.
