Recreation Program Instructor

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Instructor to lead cultural and recreational activities for children ages 5-12 years in our day care programs. The successful candidate will have a strong background in Early Childhood Education and be able to provide guidance and supervision to subordinate staff and volunteers.

• Implement and direct a wide variety of cultural and recreational activities for children ages 5-12 years.
• Provide general guidance and supervision to subordinate staff and volunteers.
• Stimulate interest and assist in the direction of age-appropriate activities, games, stunts, contests, and field trips.
• Supervise and instruct subordinate recreation staff and volunteers as assigned.
• Organize and direct hobby groups and special interest groups.
• Conduct activities such as storytelling, arts and crafts.
• Inspect playground and day care facility equipment.
• Care for recreation equipment or supervise a subordinate in this work.
• Ensure the safety of all participants.

• 12 units in Early Childhood Education and 3 units in Administration preferred.
• Within the first six weeks of employment, obtain and maintain current certification in Community or Standard First Aid and Community CPR.
• Possession of a valid California Driver's License and maintenance of a reasonable driving record.

• Knowledge of a variety of age-appropriate cultural and recreational activities suitable for day care programs.
• General principles of supervision and training.
• Playground safety and first aid practices.
• Record-keeping procedures.
• English usage, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
