Position Summary
The Nursing Assistant (NAC) plays a vital role as a team member in the clinic's overall operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patient Flow: Efficiently manages the flow of patients and families to the care area, performing clerical tasks, transporting patients, cleaning, and restocking rooms to maintain clinic efficiency.
  • Patient Care: Engages in patient care activities, including but not limited to vital signs monitoring, ECG, assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs), and patient transport. Responsible for operating patient lift equipment and recognizing symptoms of common medical conditions, escalating concerns to the RN or provider as necessary.
  • Documentation: Accurately records vital signs and patient information in accordance with established policies.
  • Customer Service: Upholds patient rights and privacy, fostering independence and demonstrating sensitivity to the emotional, social, and mental health needs of patients and families. Acts as a courteous representative of Fred Hutch, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment.
  • Communication: Promotes effective communication by respecting the ideas and feelings of others and seeking assistance when needed.
  • Role Development: Takes initiative in identifying and pursuing learning opportunities to enhance professional growth.
  • Compliance: Demonstrates knowledge of patient privacy rights and maintains confidentiality of sensitive information.

Qualifications
Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification as a Nursing Assistant in the state of Washington.
  • Current BLS AHA Health Provider Card (or equivalent) with renewal every two years.
  • Knowledge of human growth and development to tailor care to the patient's age and developmental stage.
  • Physical capability to perform role-related tasks, including walking, standing, lifting, and executing nursing procedures.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and problem-solve effectively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
