Job Summary

The Assistant Director of Security Systems will oversee the planning, installation, monitoring, and maintenance of all protective systems at Case Western Reserve University. This includes security systems, fire systems, CCTV, fire extinguishers, fixed suppression systems, communications equipment, radios, emergency phone service, and outdoor emergency notification systems. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with all applicable fire and security system codes and stay current with the state of technology and changes in codes/regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the direct installation and service maintenance of access control and security systems
Plan, design, and coordinate with vendors for the installation of new security systems
Act as primary contact for security, access control, and CCTV vendors relative to bids, walk-throughs, and on-site supervision of projects
Involved in initial discussions of all remodeling, renovation, and construction projects to assess impact on security systems
Serve as lead technician to security systems and master user for Lenel Access Control and Milestone systems
Control user access, managing permissions and access levels effectively
Propose potential upgrades and plan strategic initiatives related to security systems on campus
Manage three security technicians and serve as the Director of Security Systems in their absence (50%)

Provide administration and overall maintenance of the body-worn camera program
Assign and maintain inventory of body-worn camera equipment
Assist end-users with troubleshooting basic technical equipment issues
Research, design, and conduct departmental training programs
Responsible for routine functionality audits ensuring video evidence is properly uploaded and policies and procedures related to the body-worn camera program are followed
Maintain body-worn camera equipment to ensure adequate supplies are on hand
Assist personnel in the use and navigation of the body-worn camera software to find specific video files, burn copies, and share files with authorized personnel and entities
Liaison with body-worn camera provider and advise department on equipment upgrades, and any concerns or issues related to the body-worn camera equipment
Review and redact body-worn camera videos and ensure release is in accordance with federal, state, and local statutes
Assist with policies, procedures, usage, and data management of the body-worn camera program (20%)

Coordinate with Information Technology staff regarding security system-related issues
Maintain accurate and detailed service and inspection data through entry to a computerized work order management system on a daily basis
Oversee electrical contractors assisting in pulling cable, installing devices, or anything required to install the access control system to proper national/local codes
Oversee and manage the semi-annual inspections of all campus security systems and card access systems to include panels, card readers, audibles, door contacts, motion detectors, glass breaks, backup power, and alarm signals
Prepare an action plan to address any inspection violations or recommendations
Manage system programming issues off-site to control possible breakdowns
Manage all intercom systems to facilitate effective communication and security protocols
Responsible for policy and procedure review and evaluation, and assist in development, implementation, and updating of policies and procedures
