Position Overview and Responsibilities:
- Installation of cabling systems
- Setup of equipment racks
- Installation of jacks and connectors
- Handling various cable types including CAT3, CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6a, fiber optic, COAX, speaker, and control wires
- Conducting tests with diverse testing equipment
- Installing fiber and copper cables in ceilings, conduits, and raised floors; routing cables within walls and modular furniture; terminating both fiber and copper cabling
- Terminating and organizing communications closets in accordance with BICSI standards
- Testing cables to ensure accuracy and documenting results
- Demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of cabling standards
- Installing lighting control systems
- Installing mechanical control systems
- Installing Building Automation Systems (BAS)
- Performing testing and troubleshooting
- Possessing adequate knowledge of cabling infrastructures
- Reading and interpreting floor plans
- Performing additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Career Level:
- Service Technician Low Voltage Level 1 & 2: Requires indirect supervision, performing technical tasks and contributing to the enhancement of concepts, techniques, and procedures. Coordination of tasks within established procedures is essential. Candidates should be skilled specialists or recent graduates with relevant experience.
- Service Technician HVAC Level 1: Minimum of 10 years of experience and a Class A Supervisor's refrigeration license required.
- Service Technician HVAC Level 2: Minimum of 5 years of experience and a Journeyman's refrigeration license required.
- Specialist/Journeyman Low Voltage Level 3: Direct supervision required, performing technical responsibilities and contributing to the development of concepts, techniques, and procedures. Candidates should be skilled specialists with relevant experience.
- Service Technician HVAC Level 3: Minimum of 3 years of experience and enrollment in an apprenticeship program required.
- Candidates must demonstrate sound judgment and initiative in resolving issues and making recommendations. Additional duties may be assigned.
