Position Overview

The Safety and Emergency Preparedness Coordinator plays a crucial role in supporting and facilitating health and safety initiatives, injury prevention strategies, emergency response protocols, and environmental stewardship programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Health & Safety Programs: Assist in the coordination of essential health and safety, injury prevention, and emergency management initiatives.
  • Collaboration: Work alongside safety and emergency management leadership to develop and administer projects focused on safety, preparedness, and disaster response.
  • Resource for Safety Practices: Serve as a key resource for both internal and external stakeholders to identify and rectify unsafe practices or conditions.
  • Training Support: Provide training assistance for disaster preparedness and safety initiatives.
  • Facility Improvement Recommendations: Suggest enhancements to hospital facilities and practices to improve the work environment and safety standards.
  • Health & Safety Hazard Management: Collaborate with hospital personnel to address and mitigate health and safety hazards.
  • Inventory Management: Aid in the management of disaster preparedness and safety equipment inventory.
  • Knowledge of Safety Principles: Maintain a strong understanding of industrial health and safety principles, training methodologies, and relevant laws and regulations.
  • Program Implementation: Assist in the execution of health and safety programs and conduct hazard assessments.
  • Technical Proficiency: Demonstrate proficiency in standard office equipment and computer applications.
  • Relationship Building: Develop and sustain positive working relationships while contributing effectively to departmental objectives.
  • Policy Adherence: Comply with organizational policies, procedures, laws, and standards.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other assigned responsibilities as necessary.
Qualifications
  • Minimum Education: Associate degree in Occupational Safety or a related discipline.
  • Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety or a related discipline.
  • Minimum Experience: 1-3 years of relevant program coordination experience.
  • Preferred Experience: 3-5 years of relevant program coordination experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Required Certification: Certified Healthcare Safety Professional - IBFCSM within one year of employment.
  • Preferred Certification: ASP, CSP, CIH, CHSP.
  • Required License: Valid Driver's License.
  • Preferred License: Not Applicable.
