Wellpath serves hundreds of thousands of unique individuals in our facilities each month, with a significant percentage receiving direct clinical care, including lifesaving interventions.

The Infection Control Nurse Manager is tasked with overseeing and managing the infection prevention and control department, which includes providing education and consultation to health authorities.
This role encompasses ensuring compliance with OSHA and state regulations, conducting outbreak investigations, and directing the overall infection prevention and control program.
The Infection Control Nurse Manager guarantees effective management of the department to uphold a safe and healthy environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing action plans to address negative variances and conducting regular reviews of facility policies, procedures, and guidelines to identify gaps in infection control.
- Establishing, implementing, and managing departmental goals, objectives, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with OSHA, CDC, CMS, and other regulatory bodies.
- Collaborating with staff members, including physicians, nurses, and supervisors, to provide resource information, resolve infection control issues, and identify new opportunities for service improvement and cost reduction.
- Leading and coordinating the infection prevention and control program throughout the facility, including preparing reports and statistical data for committees and administration.
- Assisting in the orientation, job shadowing, and training of new employees as necessary.
Education
- BSN or a Bachelor's degree in microbiology or epidemiology is preferred.
- Completion of the Association for Practitioners in Infection Control (APIC) training course or equivalent is preferred.
Experience
- Two (2) to four (4) years of experience, with at least one (1) year in Public Health or as an Infection Control Nurse in an acute care setting preferred.
- Clinical experience in a hospital environment or disease surveillance experience in a public health context is required.
- Previous experience in correctional or detention facilities is preferred.
Licenses/Certifications
- Current (and must maintain) RN License in the state of employment, if RN is required.
- Public Health Nurse (PHN) certification.
- Current (and must maintain) lifesaving BLS certification through AHA.
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) is preferred.
- Current (and must maintain) lifesaving ACLS certification through AHA.
