Role Overview:
The Senior Accountant position is tailored for an experienced professional to oversee a wide array of accounting responsibilities in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), including:
- General Accounting: Responsible for executing account reconciliations, preparing journal entries, managing general ledger accruals, and supervising period-end and month-end closing activities.
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Involves generating financial reports, offering technical guidance during annual budget preparation, and contributing to financial reporting, analysis, and forecasting.
- Tax & Compliance: Includes managing local tax submissions, filing sales and use tax returns, preparing annual property tax returns, and ensuring year-end compliance for ESOP and 401k plans.
- Asset & Cash Management: Tasks encompass managing fixed assets and lease schedules, conducting monthly balance sheet reconciliations, monitoring and forecasting cash flow, and maintaining stock schedules.
- Budgeting & Strategic Planning: Supports the annual budgeting process, assesses potential acquisitions, and provides financial support and training to team members.
- Audit & Process Improvement: Responsible for assisting with audits, reviewing and enhancing processes and internal controls, and developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures.
- Leadership & Communication: Includes preparing materials for board meetings, addressing discrepancies with senior management, and driving results to align with the company's strategic objectives.
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- A minimum of 5 years of General Ledger experience
- Proven knowledge and experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial software applications
