About the Role

Abnormal Security is seeking a highly skilled Staff Software Engineer to lead the Cellular Architecture team. This team will be responsible for executing the company's strategic goal of transitioning to a Cellular-based Architecture, a complex project that will improve the scalability and reliability of the product offerings.

This role involves leading the effort, working cross-functionally with multiple teams, building execution plans, and ensuring operational excellence. The ideal candidate will be:

  • Capable of taking a complex business problem, exploring solution spaces, and coordinating delivery across multiple teams.
  • Dependable and autonomous, with a proven track record of technical leadership.
  • An effective communicator and collaborator, willing to escalate for help when necessary.
Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Shaping the cloud architecture of Abnormal Security on AWS to support the transition to Cell-based Architecture.
  • Defining the architecture of Abnormal Security's data systems to align with the Cell-based architecture.
  • Deep diving into product workflows and recommending correct trade-offs for the transition.
  • Acting as the technical lead of the team, owning the quarterly roadmap, and setting, executing, and delivering on it.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 8+ years of experience in building large-scale distributed cloud systems and architectures, preferably on AWS.
  • A proven track record of defining and driving engineering initiatives that involve cross-team collaboration.
  • Experience in building platforms, tools, and systems to serve the needs of engineering teams, empowering them to ship with velocity and reliability.
  • Experience with or interest in Abnormal Security's Tech Stack: Python, Golang, Terraform / Terragrunt, Postgresql, Kafka, Redis, OpenSearch, AWS, Kubernetes.
Nice to Have

The following skills are desirable:

  • Experience in operating complex AI / ML applications at scale.
  • Experience in scaling a product stack from a single region to multi-region on a commercial cloud platform.

Abnormal Security offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary range of $209,800—$246,800 USD, as well as bonus, restricted stock units (RSUs), and benefits. Individual compensation packages are based on factors unique to each candidate, including their skills, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.
