About the Role

This position is responsible for ensuring the availability and smooth operation of a Treasury payment system. You will provide application-specific support and monitoring in a production environment, serving as a trusted partner to Treasury colleagues. As a subject matter expert, you will leverage in-depth technical and business knowledge to recommend application enhancements during the software development lifecycle. This role involves providing testing and production technical support to resolve simple to complex problems, representing the application support team to other groups within the Federal Reserve System and Treasury.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for business solutions, application-related user issues, and/or system hardware problems by performing root cause analysis and communicating status of resolution to appropriate parties.
  • Propose technology solutions to incorporate, improve, redesign, and/or enhance business processes, guiding and assisting business owners and/or project managers in determining the scope and vision of solutions.
  • Manage projects according to established standards by communicating with relevant stakeholders on status of implementation, application-related issues, application requirements, enhancements, changes, outages, and/or other production disruptions.
  • Provide guidance on the development and prioritization of system enhancements by working with relevant stakeholders, tracking, analyzing, testing, and validating infrastructure and software changes, including developing user acceptance test scripts.
  • Design and build moderately complex database queries for ad hoc requests and for recurring reporting needs, based on stakeholder specifications.
  • Proactively monitor live application event logs and system-generated alarms, interpret the events, and provide recommended course of remediation.
  • Perform installation and configuration of server applications on designated environments, including contingency planning and regular contingency testing of applications and related infrastructure, identifying gaps in resiliency and proposing solutions.
  • Coordinate collection of testing results and provide guidance to technical teams on prioritized defect resolution.
  • Review and/or create application system documentation, including processes, procedures, system flow diagrams, for supported products.
  • Manage and/or build relationships with National IT/local IT support groups and vendors, monitoring deliverables and deadlines, ensuring vendor compliance with contracts, and leading resolution of technical issues.

Requirements

  • Typically requires 3 years of experience with providing post-production second-level application support.
  • Associate's degree specializing in information technology or a closely related field from an accredited two-year college or technical school, or equivalent combination of directly related education and/or experience.
  • Must provide on-call support over weekend and/or evening hours as part of a team rotation.
  • Excellent customer service, multi-tasking, analytical, and communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to end-users and non-technical staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage projects of varying size and scope effectively.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Foundational knowledge of application monitoring, application support, and payment systems.

Additional Information

This position is located in Kansas City, MO, and requires working on-site a minimum of 50% monthly. The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
