The Plant Maintenance Technician IV will operate under the guidance of the Downtown O&M Manager, ensuring the seamless operation and upkeep of district cooling facilities in the urban core. This role is pivotal in maintaining the safety and efficiency of plant chillers, distribution networks, and auxiliary machinery. Furthermore, responsibilities extend to supporting maintenance activities at the Tempe cogeneration facility and other remote plant locations.
Key Responsibilities:- Assess and comprehend the operational and maintenance needs of both primary and remote facilities, alongside distribution systems.
- Oversee bids and manage contractors engaged in maintenance services.
- Conduct both planned and reactive maintenance on plant apparatus.
- Maintain comprehensive records and documentation of maintenance activities.
- Carry out tasks as directed by plant management.
- Initiate maintenance work requests and collaborate with the department manager.
- Engage in daily discussions with leads and management.
- Spot opportunities for enhancing operational and maintenance processes.
- Plan and implement routine maintenance projects while supporting significant initiatives.
- Ensure adherence to safety and environmental standards.
- Administer spare parts inventory and supplies.
- Be prepared for emergency response on a 24/7 basis.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of five years' experience with chilled water systems and water pumps.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Hands-on experience with chiller facilities.
- EPA section 609 universal refrigeration certification (preferred).
- Expertise in working with chilled water systems and water pumps.
- Ability to operate in various climatic conditions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to emerging technologies and practices.
- Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated integrity, energy, and enthusiasm.
