Job Summary

The Department Chair provides strategic leadership to the Department of Osteopathic Medicine, driving the achievement of the department's objectives and contributing to the overall success of Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and implement the department's vision and mission, ensuring alignment with the university's strategic goals.
  • Lead and manage the department's faculty and staff, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
  • Develop and manage the department's budget, ensuring effective resource allocation and financial stewardship.
  • Recruit, evaluate, and retain high-performing faculty and staff, promoting their professional growth and development.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to advance the university's mission and goals.
  • Participate in curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation, ensuring the department's programs meet the highest standards of quality and relevance.
  • Provide clinical expertise and support for the department's educational programs, including curriculum development and assessment.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and regulatory requirements, maintaining the department's reputation for excellence.
  • Represent the department and university in a professional and positive manner, building relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Ph.D., D.O., or M.D. degree from an accredited institution.
  • At least five years of experience as a faculty member in a related field.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Documented history of professional achievement and a strong record of scholarly activity.
  • Ability to generate respect and trust from faculty and staff, and to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Desired Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to work with and manage different computer programs and databases, and to schedule activities and meetings effectively.
