Job Summary

This position oversees all technical aspects in the radiology department. The successful candidate will maintain a high level of technical proficiency to assist in the development of new techniques and protocols for the department. They will supervise technologists in day-to-day operations, ensuring a smooth workflow and high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of team members, ensuring adequate coverage of all areas in the department.
  • Monitor team member productivity levels, accuracy of exams, and patient care.
  • Coordinate patient flow throughout the department, prioritizing procedures and adjusting workloads as needed.
  • Verify the quality of exams performed by team members.
  • Maintain a high level of technical proficiency in system management.
  • Obtain medications, radiopharmaceuticals, or contrast materials as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner, authorized/certified technologist, or registered nurse.
  • Ensure the team maintains stocked areas for the next day and documents patient output, equipment downtime, and supply charges.
  • Maintain team member records and document paid time off requests, reasons for absences, and tardiness.
  • Assist with preparing technical team evaluations.
  • Troubleshoot equipment or procedure problems with follow-up to service engineers, managers, and physicians.

Requirements

This role requires moderate to heavy physical efforts in lifting and moving patients, equipment, and supplies. The successful candidate must be able to read and understand patient orders and technical materials. Intact sense of sight and hearing for distances of up to 20 feet is necessary.

Education and Experience

A graduate of an accredited two-year AMA and ARRT-approved program in Radiologic Technology is required. A minimum of three years of experience is required, with one year of supervisory experience preferred. BLS is required per policy guidelines. Completion of IV starting and contrast administration competencies is necessary before performing venous contrast administration.
