Position Overview

Sign-On Bonus: Eligible for a $2,500 Sign-On Bonus for a two-year commitment.

Under the direct supervision of a healthcare provider, the individual will be tasked with patient evaluation and care, along with maintaining accurate documentation. A fundamental understanding of both specialty and primary care is essential, as well as the ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. This role is pivotal in coordinating care to ensure that high-quality, compassionate services are delivered. Responsibilities include overseeing patient management at various office locations and acting as a liaison with other departments and organizations.

Key Responsibilities

(30%) Manage incoming calls, schedule urgent and emergent appointments, and relay test results. Provide support and direction to patients regarding consultations, testing, and insurance documentation.

(30%) Welcome patients and their families, perform routine pre-examination tasks including vital signs, and document both objective and subjective data related to the presenting condition. Maintain accurate patient records through tasks such as medication reconciliation and secure messaging.

(20%) Assist healthcare providers during examinations and procedures.

(20%) Prepare and sanitize patient areas, set up necessary equipment, and ensure cleanliness post-procedure. Dispose of contaminated materials and sterilize medical instruments.

Additional Duties

Conduct comprehensive patient assessments as required within the scope of practice. Perform patient care tasks such as injections, minor dressing changes, and blood specimen collection. In some settings, demonstrate competency in assisting with procedures like EKGs and pulmonary function tests.

Maintain a safe and clean environment for both patients and colleagues. Familiarity with necessary computer functions in the office setting is required, including electronic medical records and practice management systems.

Uphold patient confidentiality and rights in accordance with HIPAA regulations. May involve clerical duties such as filing insurance forms and updating patient records.

Certifications and Qualifications

Required certifications include BLS (Basic Life Support) within three months of hire and Medical Assistant certification. Candidates must possess one of the following active certifications: RMA, CMA, or equivalent Medical Assistant credential. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program is preferred.

Education

High School Diploma or GED is required.

Experience and Skills

Strong interpersonal skills are necessary for effective communication with individuals at all levels. Knowledge of medical office policies and procedures is preferred, typically acquired through three to five years in a healthcare setting.

Physical and Mental Requirements

Ability to handle stressful situations, including public contact. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment and perform job functions with or without assistance. Frequent sitting, standing, and walking are required, along with the ability to lift or carry up to 20 lbs occasionally.

Other requirements include maintaining a high level of confidentiality and participating in ongoing training opportunities as needed.
